It is usually charged by time or by the linear foot rather than by diameter, since there is no single measurement to price against. Two limits worth knowing before you ask. Roots running under a driveway, a patio or a slab cannot be chased without breaking the concrete, so those get cut at the edge and left. And irrigation lines, invisible fence wire and shallow utilities all live in the same few inches of soil as the runners, so have anything you know about marked before the crew starts following a root across the yard.

How far out do the roots actually go?

Do the roots keep growing after grinding?
